An Israeli court has turned down Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to reduce the number of days he must appear in court during his ongoing corruption trial. This decision was made on Thursday as Netanyahu’s legal team has repeatedly sought to postpone his testimony, which is set to commence on Tuesday and is expected to take several weeks.
Netanyahu’s attorneys asked for the Prime Minister to be allowed to testify less than three days a week, citing the significant demands of managing the current conflicts in the Middle East, including hostilities in Gaza and Lebanon.
However, judges at the Jerusalem district court stated they “found no compelling reason” to accommodate this request.
Netanyahu faces multiple charges, including fraud, breach of trust, and bribery, linked to three distinct scandals where he is alleged to have exchanged favors with influential media figures and wealthy individuals. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing throughout the proceedings.
