The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced the appointment of Brent Strom as their new assistant pitching coach, a move made public on Thursday.
The 76-year-old Strom will collaborate closely with Oscar Marin, who has been serving as the team’s pitching coach since 2020.
Strom’s extensive experience in Major League Baseball includes a playing career as a pitcher from 1972 to 1977.
Furthermore, he has held pitching coach roles with several teams, including stints with the Houston Astros from 1996 and again from 2014 to 2021, as well as the Kansas City Royals from 2000 to 2001, and most recently with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2022 to 2024.
During his career, Strom played a significant role in helping the Astros reach the World Series in 2017, 2019, and 2021, along with his involvement with the Diamondbacks in 2023.
