Foegele and Kings come back to defeat Stars 3-2, securing their fourth consecutive victory

LOS ANGELES — Warren Foegele executed a wraparound goal early in the third period, propelling the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night.

Tanner Jeannot contributed to the win with a goal and an assist, while Joel Edmundson also found the back of the net. Goaltender David Rittich made a commendable 26 saves, securing the Kings’ fourth consecutive win after initially falling behind 2-0 midway through the first period.

Los Angeles effectively pressured Stars goalie Jake Oettinger from close proximity during the game’s final two periods. Foegele scored his seventh of the season just 2:22 into the third, giving his team the lead.

The Stars received contributions from Wyatt Johnston, who scored on the power play, and Mason Marchment also tallied a goal. However, Dallas’s three-game winning streak came to an end. Oettinger managed to make 15 saves throughout the contest.

In injury news, the Stars will be without Tyler Seguin for four to six months due to hip surgery. Seguin, ranked third on the team with 20 points, will undergo a procedure to repair a torn labrum and impingement in his left hip.

The Kings also faced a setback, losing veteran forward Trevor Lewis, a key player from their Stanley Cup-winning squads of 2012 and 2014. Lewis is expected to be out for four to six weeks due to a lower-body injury. In his absence, the Kings utilized 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

A pivotal moment in the game occurred when Jeannot ignited the Kings’ comeback effort early in the second period by scoring on a rebound that deflected off the boards, narrowing the gap to 2-1.

An interesting statistic for the Kings is their ability to recover from early deficits. They improved to a record of 6-6-0 when conceding the first goal and 2-4-0 when trailing after the first period.

Looking ahead, the Stars are set to face the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, while the Kings will host the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
