LAS CRUCES, N.M. — In a competitive matchup, Hunter Jack Madden shined with 24 points, leading Abilene Christian to a 78-70 victory over New Mexico State on Wednesday evening.
Madden was impressive on the court, shooting 6 out of 10 overall, including 5 for 8 from beyond the arc, and perfect from the free-throw line at 7 for 7. His performance was pivotal for the Wildcats, who improved their record to 6-3. Quion Williams also contributed significantly, scoring 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Additionally, Leonardo Bettiol added 16 points, making 5 out of 9 shots from the field and converting 6 of 8 free-throw attempts.
For New Mexico State, which fell to 3-5, Robert Carpenter was the leading scorer with 13 points, while Zawdie Jackson contributed 12 points, and Nate Tshimanga finished with 10 points.
During the first half, Williams netted seven points, but the Wildcats entered the halftime break down 30-27. The momentum shifted in the second half as Madden exploded with 21 points, catalyzing Abilene Christian’s comeback and securing an eight-point win.
