SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Law enforcement in Trinidad and Tobago has announced a significant drug bust, seizing over $6 million worth of illegal substances in one of the largest operations ever recorded in the history of the twin islands.
This substantial confiscation included over 500 pounds (approximately 230 kilograms) of marijuana alongside more than 28 pounds (around 13 kilograms) of cocaine. Authorities took two men into custody, both of whom had recently been released from prison due to an unrelated case.
The arrests took place on Monday in the western region of Tobago, where the suspects were found loading fuel into an unregistered boat that was later discovered to be carrying the drugs.
While police have yet to determine the origin of the seized narcotics, they indicated that the drugs had likely passed through Trinidad before reaching Tobago.
