MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary’s College showcased an impressive performance as they triumphed over UTSA with a final score of 82-74 in an overtime battle on Tuesday night. Augustas Marciulionis was a standout player, leading his team with 23 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Mitchell Saxen made significant contributions as well, scoring five points in overtime, and finishing the game with 15 points total. He demonstrated excellent efficiency by hitting 6 of 9 shots from the field, while also going 3 for 5 at the free-throw line. On the defensive end, Saxen recorded 13 rebounds, four steals, and four blocks to support his team’s efforts. Paulius Murauskas added to the Gaels’ score with 12 points, having a tough shooting night as he went 2 for 10 from the floor but managed to hit 8 of 11 from the charity stripe, along with grabbing 12 rebounds.
For the Roadrunners, Amir “Primo” Spears led the charge in scoring, finishing the game with 24 points, while Marcus Millender contributed 21 points and three steals. Jaquan Scott also had a noteworthy performance, securing nine points and an impressive 14 rebounds.
Saint Mary’s established an early dominance, launching into a commanding 30-7 lead in the first half after an impressive 20-2 scoring streak. Marciulionis played a pivotal role during this stretch, scoring 11 points by halftime, which concluded with the Gaels in the lead at 39-25. As the second half unfolded, Saint Mary’s extended their nine-point lead to an 18-point advantage with a swift 9-0 run, bringing the score to 55-37 with about 13:40 remaining. Marciulionis added eight more points to his tally in the second half, helping to seal the Gaels’ solid victory.
