TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State University showcased a dominant performance on Tuesday night, overwhelming San Diego with a score of 90-53, thanks to impressive contributions from Joson Sanon and Basheer Jihad, who each racked up 19 points.

The Sun Devils (8-1) found themselves in an early predicament, trailing by as much as 12 points. However, they quickly regrouped and initiated a potent 10-0 run that allowed them to take the lead by seven points at halftime. In the second half, Arizona State continued their momentum, executing a staggering 19-1 run that solidified their victory and marked the team’s sixth consecutive win as they prepare to enter Big 12 play.

Freshman standout Jayden Quaintance contributed significantly to the team’s success with an impressive stat line of 10 points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots. Sanon proved to be a reliable asset coming off the bench, converting 5 of 8 from beyond the arc.

On the other side, San Diego (3-5) saw Kjay Bradley score 15 points, while Santiago Trouet added another 10. The Torreros’ shooting struggles were evident as they managed only 2 of 19 from the three-point range, failing to convert any of their ten attempts in the second half.

This decisive victory not only reflects Arizona State’s talent and adaptability but also sets a promising tone as they move forward in the season.
