The National Player of the Week honors in women’s basketball for Week 4 of the season have been awarded to Reigan Richardson from Duke University.
This senior guard delivered an impressive performance, setting a personal record by scoring 35 points in a victory over then-ranked No. 8 Oklahoma, securing the title at the Ball Dawgs Classic.
Notably, this achievement marked the highest point total in Duke’s history against a ranked opponent.
In addition to her standout game against Oklahoma, Richardson contributed with 16 points against Kansas State and 19 points in a win over Columbia.
Throughout the week, she maintained an average of 23.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, boasting a shooting percentage of 53.8% from the field.
In the spotlight as a runner-up is Sedona Prince from TCU.
She made history by becoming the first player in NCAA history to achieve 20 rebounds and eight blocks in a single game against a top-five team, during the Horned Frogs’ victory over then-No. 3 Notre Dame in the Cayman Islands.
Along with her remarkable defensive performance, Prince also scored 20 points, becoming the first to record this combination of statistics against a ranked opponent since the 1999-2000 season.
Honorable mentions for the week include Paige Bueckers from UConn, Ta’Niya Latson from Florida State, and Aneesah Morrow from LSU.
It’s also worth noting the remarkable performance of Kennedy Harris, a guard for George Mason, who averaged 25.5 points over two games last week against then-No. 10 Maryland and Navy.
Harris scored 26 points against Maryland and gained recognition on the all-tournament team, contributing to her team’s historic 6-0 start, a record they have achieved only twice in the last two seasons.
