RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Daniel Dubois is set to face Joseph Parker in what will be his second defense of the world heavyweight title, although this matchup will not serve as the main event on a packed boxing card scheduled for February 22 in Saudi Arabia.
Dubois will step into the ring as the reigning IBF champion just before the headline fight, where Artur Beterbiev will face Dmitry Bivol in a much-anticipated rematch. Beterbiev claimed the status of undisputed light-heavyweight champion following a controversial points victory against Bivol last October.
In his most recent bout, Dubois showcased his power by knocking out British opponent Anthony Joshua in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium during his initial title defense in September.
Joseph Parker, who held the WBO title between 2016 and 2018, lost it to Joshua via unanimous decision. He later captured the WBO interim title by defeating Zhilei Zhang.
The event will also feature a matchup between British light-heavyweights Joshua Buatsi and Callum Smith, with Buatsi’s WBO interim title on the line. Additionally, the undefeated fighter Hamzah Sheeraz from London will be looking to claim a world title for the first time as he takes on WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames.
