Andrej Jakimovski and Trevor Baskin propel Colorado to a 75-66 win against Pacific

BOULDER, Colo. — Andrej Jakimovski led the Colorado Buffaloes with 17 points, while Trevor Baskin achieved his first career double-double, and Colorado surged in the second half to secure a 75-66 victory over the Pacific Tigers on Monday night.

Jakimovski displayed impressive shooting, connecting on 6 of 13 attempts, including four 3-pointers, as the Buffaloes improved their home record to 5-0 and their overall record to 6-2. Baskin contributed significantly with 13 points and 10 rebounds, marking the first time he achieved a double-double in his career.

Elias Ralph was a standout for Pacific, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds, while Elijah Fisher added 17 points and eight rebounds. Petar Krivokapic chipped in with 10 points off the bench, but the team struggled on the road, dropping to 0-4.

Colorado took an early 8-4 lead thanks to a three-pointer from Julian Hammond III. However, the Tigers dominated with a quick 15-0 run led by 3-pointers from Jefferson Koulibaly and Krivokapic, putting Pacific ahead 19-8 with 12:54 remaining in the first half. After enduring a nearly six-minute scoring drought, Sebastian Rancik finally put points on the board for the Buffaloes, yet they went into halftime trailing 38-29.

The momentum shifted in the second half when Jakimovski, who joined Colorado after four seasons at Washington State, executed a three-point play that allowed the Buffaloes to regain the lead for the first time since the 15:31 mark of the first half. RJ Smith then followed with a three-pointer and another basket, putting Colorado ahead 53-50 with 10:40 left in the game. Although the Tigers managed to close the gap to a single point on three occasions, they ultimately fell short in the final seven minutes.

In terms of shooting, the Buffaloes significantly improved in the second half, hitting 53.6% of their shots, and finished the game with an overall accuracy of 42.4%. In contrast, while the Tigers shot 48.3% in the first half, they struggled in the second, managing only 26.5% from the field.
