LYON, France — Georges Mikautadze, the Lyon striker, reassured fans after reports emerged indicating that he had been the victim of a robbery at his residence following a match in the French league.
On Monday, Mikautadze took to social media to relay that he was unharmed and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from his followers.
As per various accounts from French media, the Georgian international was allegedly confronted by two armed intruders upon returning to his home after Lyon’s convincing 4-1 victory over Nice on Sunday. Local reports suggest that the assailants compelled him to let them into his house, where they demanded valuables totaling between 150,000 euros (approximately $157,000) and 200,000 euros (around $210,000).
Mikautadze, who transferred to Lyon from Metz this summer, has made a notable impact in his new team. He has netted four goals and provided one assist over 17 appearances across all competitions in the current season.
