Masic and Portland clinch 101-90 victory in overtime against Denver

PORTLAND, Ore. — Vukasin Masic delivered an impressive performance, scoring 27 points to lead the Portland Pilots to a 101-90 victory over the Denver Pioneers on Sunday evening.

Masic didn’t just contribute on offense; he also grabbed five rebounds. Teammate Austin Rapp added 20 points along with six rebounds, while Vincent Delano chipped in with 18 points, including a solid shooting performance of 5 for 9 and 2 for 4 from beyond the arc, plus making 6 out of 8 free throws.

For the Pioneers, Nicholas Shogbonyo was the standout player, netting 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Sebastian Akins followed with 17 points and two steals, while Pedro Lopez-Sanvicente contributed 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Pilots established a lead going into halftime, leading 39-30. Delano was instrumental in the first half, scoring 10 points to propel the team.

During the second half, Portland mounted a comeback with a remarkable 13-2 run that wiped out a 10-point deficit, allowing them to take the lead 69-68 with just 17 seconds remaining in the half.

In a nail-biting finish, Masic made one of his two free throws with less than a second left in regulation, resulting in a tie at 70 and sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, Denver’s DeAndre Craig managed to score a layup just as the clock expired, which tied the game 80-80 and forced a second overtime period.
