PHILADELPHIA — In a solid performance, Sam Sherry contributed 16 points to help the Elon Phoenix secure a 68-53 win against the Pennsylvania Quakers on Sunday.
Sherry also grabbed six rebounds for the Phoenix, who now hold a record of 5-3. Nick Dorn was another key player, netting 15 points with a shooting effort of 6 for 11, including a notable 3 for 6 from three-point territory. TK Simpkins added to the scoreboard with 12 points, completing 5 of 11 attempts from the field, while also taking one shot from beyond the arc.
On the opposing side, the Quakers were led by Ethan Roberts, who delivered an impressive 20-point performance along with six rebounds. Nick Spinoso contributed to the team’s efforts with eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Dylan Williams also joined the scoring with eight points.
Elon gained the lead with 9:49 remaining in the first half and managed to maintain it throughout the game. In the first half, Dorn’s scoring prowess shone through as he amassed 13 points, helping his team to a 37-26 lead at halftime. In the second half, Elon continued to outpace Pennsylvania by an additional four points, with Sherry once again stepping up and leading the team in scoring for the half with 11 points.
