Kylian Mbappé managed to mend some relations with Real Madrid fans after scoring in his team’s 2-0 victory over Getafe during the Spanish league match on Sunday.

Despite facing criticism for his lackluster performances following his transfer to the prominent club this season, Mbappé found the back of the net in the 38th minute, helping to secure the win at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

This success came on the heels of a disappointing game against Liverpool in the Champions League, where he even missed a penalty.

Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for Madrid by converting a penalty in the 30th minute and played a crucial role in assisting Mbappé’s goal. Both players have faced scrutiny from fans recently due to their underwhelming play in previous matches.

In the last six games across all competitions, Mbappé had netted just once, and his tally stood at two goals from the last nine matches.

The victory brought Real Madrid within one point of the league leaders, Barcelona, who suffered a 2-1 defeat to Las Palmas on Saturday. Madrid, the reigning champions, still has one game in hand.

At the same time, Madrid is holding a slim lead over their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, who secured a commanding 5-0 win against Valladolid on Saturday.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Villarreal and Girona played to a 2-2 draw in their matchup.
