LUSAIL, Qatar — Max Verstappen of Red Bull continued his dominance in Formula 1 by securing a victory at the Qatar Grand Prix, adding yet another win to his recent championship title. The race was filled with dramatic moments, including a significant penalty that hindered Lando Norris’s chances of claiming the top spot.
Verstappen started the race from the second position after a collision with George Russell during qualifying had cost him pole position. However, he quickly took advantage at the start, overtaking Russell as they entered the first corner. He successfully defended against a close challenge from teammate Lando Norris in the subsequent turn, showcasing his racing prowess early on.
The eventful race was characterized by three deployments of the safety car due to various incidents on the track. Norris faced a setback when he received a penalty for not reducing speed as required under yellow flags, which relegated him to the back of the field. Finishing the race in second place was Charles Leclerc, representing Ferrari, while Norris’s McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, rounded out the podium in third.
This victory marks Verstappen’s fourth consecutive title triumph, as he previously clinched the championship in Las Vegas just a week prior. He has displayed remarkable form lately, winning two out of his last three races after experiencing a dry spell without a victory since June.
