JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have extended the contract of left tackle Walker Little, who secured a full-time starting role after the team traded veteran Cam Robinson in October. On Sunday, Little signed a three-year deal valued at $45 million, which includes approximately $26 million guaranteed. These details were confirmed by a source familiar with the negotiations, who requested not to be named as the financial specifics were not publicly disclosed.

Drafted in the second round out of Stanford in 2021, Little has made a total of 21 starts in his four seasons with the Jaguars leading up to their matchup against the Houston Texans, who currently hold the top position in the AFC South. Throughout his career, the Jaguars have utilized Little in various positions, including left tackle, right tackle, and guard, as they sought to determine his best fit on the offensive line.

Now, he is poised to serve as the future protector of quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s blind side, even though there hasn’t been any indication that the Jaguars will retain general manager Trent Baalke or head coach Doug Pederson beyond this season.

“Walker is a homegrown talent who has developed within our system,” Baalke commented in a statement. “He has consistently risen to the occasion whenever called upon, enhancing his performance at the tackle position. This presents a significant opportunity for a young player who we observe daily in practice, and we have confidence that he will excel in the years to come.”

Over the course of his career, Walker has participated in 51 games, with the majority of those appearances coming off the bench. The Jaguars find themselves in a position to secure a top-five draft pick for the third time in five years. With the upcoming draft not expected to be deep in left tackle prospects and the 2025 free-agency class lacking in this area as well, retaining Little appears to be a strategic choice for the team.
