BOZEMAN, Mont. — In a thrilling game on Saturday night, CSU Northridge secured a narrow 72-69 victory in overtime against Montana State, highlighted by an impressive 21-point performance from Marcus Adams Jr.
With just 18 seconds remaining in the overtime period, Patrick McMahon converted one of two free throws, narrowing the deficit to 70-69 for Montana State. However, on the subsequent possession, Jordan Brinson effectively extended the Matadors’ lead by sinking two free throws. The game concluded with Brian Goracke missing a critical 3-point shot for the Bobcats, sealing the win for CSU Northridge.
The regular play was equally intense, culminating in an exciting finish. McMahon managed to tie the game at 64-64 with two seconds left in regulation due to another pair of free throws. Unfortunately for Northridge, Scotty Washington’s attempt at a 3-pointer did not go through, sending the match into overtime.
Throughout the game, Adams not only showcased his scoring ability but also contributed significantly with seven rebounds for the Matadors, who now hold a record of 6-2. Keonte Jones had an impressive all-around performance, recording 11 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks. Washington provided valuable support, adding nine points to the team’s total.
On the opposing side, Agbonkpolo led the Bobcats with 21 points complemented by seven rebounds and two steals. Tyler Patterson also made a noteworthy contribution with 12 points, while Brandon Walker added 11 points along with five assists.
