HOUSTON — A small dog has been joyfully reunited with its owner following an impressive rescue operation carried out by firefighters from the icy waters of a Houston bayou.

The incident unfolded on Friday when a staff member from the Houston Botanic Garden noticed the stranded dog on a bridge pier over the Sims Bayou, located in southwest Houston. Emergency services were promptly alerted, leading firefighters to respond swiftly to the scene. A member of the swift-water rescue team was dispatched to retrieve the pet from the precarious situation.

Footage captured during the rescue illustrates the tense moment when the firefighter approached the anxious dog, which reacted by barking and trying to bite at his hands before leaping into the water. Despite the initial resistance, the firefighter successfully captured the dog and brought it back safely to dry land.

According to reports from television station KHOU-11, the dog, affectionately named Burbie, was joyfully reunited with its owner the very next day, bringing closure to a dramatic day of rescue and relief.
