CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets will be missing their star point guard, LaMelo Ball, for a minimum of two weeks due to a strained left calf.
Ball began experiencing discomfort following the team’s loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday evening and was unable to participate in the subsequent game against the New York Knicks.
According to the team’s announcement, he is scheduled for a reevaluation on December 11, marking two weeks from the date he sustained the injury.
In recent games, Ball has been on fire for the Hornets, averaging an impressive 40.3 points over his last four outings.
For the season, he is boasting a career-high average of 31.1 points and hitting 4.7 three-pointers per game, placing him in the second position in the NBA rankings.
Additionally, he contributes 5.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.1 steals across 18 starts this season.
Throughout his career since being selected as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Ball has dealt with various injury issues, primarily concerning his ankles.
As the first player in Hornets history to secure a maximum contract extension, he has participated in only 202 games, with 182 being starts, over his five-year career.
Furthermore, the team is also addressing the situation regarding guard Tre Mann, who has been dealing with lower back soreness attributed to disk irritation.
Mann’s absence from play began on November 23 against Milwaukee, and he will continue to focus on his rehabilitation, with a reevaluation expected in two weeks.
The Hornets are set to play their next game on Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks.
