Tre Johnson led the scoring for Texas with an impressive 21 points, while Kadin Shedrick contributed significantly with 14 points along with 11 rebounds. The team now holds a record of 6-1 for the season.
Adding to the scoring efforts, Tramon Mark put up 15 points, and Arthur Kaluma chipped in 13 points. The Longhorns got off to a fast start, establishing a 10-2 lead shortly after the game began. They then extended their lead dramatically with a 15-0 scoring streak, pushing the score to 25-6 midway through the first half. As the half progressed, the Longhorns added a 9-0 run and entered halftime with a comfortable 41-22 advantage.
Despite Texas shooting 60% during the second half, they struggled to maintain momentum, failing to achieve a scoring run longer than seven points. The Hornets managed to stay competitive throughout the second period, with Texas being outscored 49-46. Robert Smith was the standout performer for Delaware State, scoring 22 points, while teammates Martaz Robinson and Kaseem Watson made contributions with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
