RICHMOND, Va. — In an impressive showing on Friday night, VCU triumphed over Elizabeth City State with a dominating score of 103-58.
Phillip Russell was a standout for the Rams, contributing 18 points to the team’s victory. He demonstrated sharp shooting, connecting on 5 of 10 attempts from the field, including 4 out of 9 from beyond the arc, and made 4 of 5 free throw attempts. The Rams, now boasting a 6-2 record, saw solid performances from Terrence Hill Jr., who added 16 points with an efficient 5 of 8 shooting, making 2 of 5 from 3-point territory and sinking all 4 of his free throw attempts. Zeb Jackson also made his mark with 14 points, hitting two shots from long range.
On the other side, Reggie Raynor was the top performer for the Vikings, scoring 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
The Rams established control early, taking the lead just 13 seconds into the game and never looking back. With Russell leading the scoring, he netted 15 points in the first half, allowing VCU to build a significant lead of 49-26 by halftime.
