ROME — Cagliari’s striker Roberto Piccoli netted the decisive goal for the second consecutive match, leading his team to a 1-0 victory against Hellas Verona in Serie A on Friday evening.
Piccoli secured the win with a strike in the 75th minute at Cagliari’s home ground in Sardinia. Prior to Cagliari’s goal, Verona’s Darko Lazovi? came close to scoring but his shot hit the crossbar, leaving the visitors frustrated.
With this victory, Cagliari climbed the standings to occupy the 12th position, while Verona finds itself in 16th place, just two points clear of the relegation zone, putting pressure on their campaign.
In the previous match, Piccoli’s late equalizer marked a thrilling 2-2 draw against Genoa, demonstrating his growing importance to the team as he now has a total of four goals this season.
