MOBILE, Ala. — In an exciting matchup, Myles Corey led South Alabama to a thrilling 74-65 victory over Alcorn State during an overtime game on Friday evening.
Corey’s standout performance included 25 points and three steals, key contributions that helped elevate the Jaguars to victory. With just 33 seconds remaining in regulation, Elijah Ormiston executed a crucial layup, tying the game at 61.
Alcorn State’s Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt had a chance to secure a win with a three-pointer, but he missed with only 8 seconds left, pushing the game into overtime.
In the extra period, South Alabama took control, outscoring the Braves 13-4. Supporting Corey on the score sheet, Barry Dunning Jr. contributed 14 points and recorded three blocks, while JJ Wheat added another 10 points to the Jaguars’ tally.
For Alcorn State, Keionte Cornelius was the standout player, finishing with 24 points. Gaines-Wyatt supported with 15 points, and Omari Hamilton added 10 points along with eight rebounds as the Braves fell to a challenging 0-8 for the season.
