BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe — Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in the final one-day international against Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
Following a surprising defeat in the rain-affected opening match, Pakistan made a strong comeback, achieving a resounding 10-wicket victory in the second game, largely thanks to Saim Ayub’s first ODI century.
The visitors decided to maintain their victorious lineup, featuring Faisal Akram, Abrar Ahmed, and Salman Ali Agha as their spin bowling options.
In the previous match, the duo of Ahmed and Salman effectively dismantled the Zimbabwe batting order, collectively capturing seven wickets, with leg-spinner Abrar impressing on his debut by taking 4 wickets for 33 runs.
On the Zimbabwe side, Clive Madande stepped in as the wicketkeeper-batter, and fast bowling all-rounder Faraz Akram made his debut, replacing Brandon Mavuta and Trevor Gwandu in the squad.
The one-day international series will be succeeded by a three-match Twenty20 series, which is set to commence in Bulawayo starting Sunday.
