SEATTLE — In an impressive display, John Gibson turned in a stellar performance for the Anaheim Ducks, racking up a season-best 42 saves as the team triumphed over the Seattle Kraken with a score of 5-2 on Wednesday night.
Alex Killorn was pivotal in the victory, netting the decisive goal midway through the second period. Alongside Killorn, teammates Cutter Gauthier and Trevor Zegras also contributed significantly, each recording a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who ended an eight-game losing streak against the Kraken. This victory was especially sweet after the Ducks’ recent 3-2 defeat to Seattle earlier in the week.
Anaheim got off to a strong start with two goals in the first period from Frank Vatrano and Brett Leason, establishing a 2-0 lead.
Seattle fought back, leveling the score with goals from Eeli Tolvanen late in the first period and Oliver Bjorkstrand in the second, marking a resilient response.
However, Killorn’s wrist shot at 10:02 in the second period restored Anaheim’s advantage for good, thanks to a setup from Mason McTavish and Zegras. The Ducks extended their lead with Gauthier’s power-play goal at the end of the second period, and Killorn once again assisted as Zegras found the net in the third period at 13:55, solidifying the 5-2 win for Anaheim.
This victory highlights Anaheim’s capability to bounce back after recent struggles, showcasing key players stepping up in crucial moments.
