VILLANOVA, Pa. — In a decisive matchup on Wednesday evening, Villanova secured a comfortable victory over Rider, winning with a score of 72-48.
Eric Dixon proved to be a key player for the Wildcats, contributing 16 points along with five assists and three steals, helping his team improve their record to 4-4 for the season.
Jhamir Brickus also made a significant impact, scoring 15 points while shooting impressively from three-point range, making five of seven attempts. Tyler Perkins added to the scoring effort, finishing the game with 10 points after hitting two out of five attempts from beyond the arc, and three of six overall from the field.
On the other side, Aasim Burton led the Broncs (4-3) in scoring with 15 points, while Jay Alvarez chipped in with 11 points to help keep Rider competitive.
Dixon set the tone early, leading the team with 11 points in the first half, allowing Villanova to establish a solid 36-20 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Wildcats further widened the gap, extending their advantage to 56-30, thanks to a powerful 7-0 run. Brickus was a standout in the second half as well, contributing nine points to seal the team’s triumph.
