BOSTON – In a thrilling showdown on Wednesday night, UMass secured a 62-54 victory over Harvard, with Daniel Hankins-Sanford leading the charge.
The standout player not only scored 14 points but also pulled down 10 rebounds, showcasing his ability on both ends of the court for the Minutemen, who improved their season record to 2-5.
Joining him in the scoring effort was Rahsool Diggins, who also finished with 14 points, though he struggled with his shooting, going 6 for 16 and missing all six attempts from three-point range, while contributing five rebounds.
Daniel Rivera made a notable impact as well, scoring 12 points and hitting 6 of 8 shots from the field. This victory marked an important turnaround for UMass, ending their five-game losing streak.
For the Crimson, Thomas Batties II stood out as the leading scorer, netting 16 points in the effort to keep the game close.
The first half saw both teams deadlocked at 24-24, but UMass shifted the momentum early in the second half. Hankins-Sanford made a pivotal 3-pointer at the 17:31 mark, giving the Minutemen a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.
