LOS ANGELES — Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will not face any suspension from the Los Angeles Rams following his recent arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. He is set to participate in the upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, as confirmed by Rams head coach Sean McVay on Wednesday.
McVay noted, “I think he understands the gravity of the situation and how fortunate we are that no one was harmed.” He expressed that Robinson seems genuinely remorseful and emphasized the importance of allowing the legal system to handle the matter, stating that the league also has its own procedures in place.
Early Monday morning, Robinson was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers after they noticed a white Dodge sedan speeding over 100 mph along the 101 freeway in the western region of San Fernando Valley, not far from the Rams’ training facility in Woodland Hills.
According to statements released by the CHP, the driver, who claimed to be Robinson, exhibited “objective signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment.” Following the incident, Robinson addressed his teammates, expressing regret over the situation, as reported by both McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford.
McVay commented on the incident, stating, “It was a poor choice, but it doesn’t define him as a person. I believe this is a teaching moment, and I hope our players can learn from this experience, ensuring that such an event does not reoccur. Thankfully, the outcome wasn’t worse, and no one was injured.”
During his second season with the Rams, Robinson has played in all 11 games, amassing 26 receptions for 384 yards and leading the team with six touchdown catches. Notably, he caught a touchdown pass just hours before his arrest in the Rams’ 37-20 defeat against Philadelphia.
Having spent his first six seasons in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs—where he earned a Super Bowl ring in February 2020—Robinson later spent a year with Baltimore before joining the Rams last season. He has become a reliable third option for Stafford, working alongside top receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
Stafford added, “This is a reminder for all of us. We were fortunate to come out of it without injuries. I know D-Rob is a wonderful individual. I enjoy having him as a teammate, and I’m here to support him in any way possible.”
