In a recent development, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ shortstop, Jose D. Hernandez, has been handed a suspension for the upcoming Arizona Complex League season due to a positive test for anabolic steroids boldenone and nandrolone, as part of baseball’s minor league drug policy.

Hernandez, who is 21 years old, had a solid performance this season, hitting .302 with four home runs and 21 runs batted in over 26 games for the ACL Dodgers. The Venezuelan player signed with the Dodgers in 2019, which came with a signing bonus of $10,000.

This year has seen a total of 20 players facing suspensions stemming from positive drug tests. Of these, nine were under the minor league program, while another nine were in connection with the newly implemented program for minor leaguers stationed outside of the United States and Canada.

Additionally, there have been two suspensions this year under the major league drug policy. Notably, Noelvi Marté, a 22-year-old infielder regarded as Cincinnati’s top prospect, has missed 80 games due to a positive test for boldenone. Similarly, Toronto’s Orelvis Martínez was suspended for 80 games starting June 23 after testing positive for clomiphene, just two days after making his major league debut.
