HENDERSON, Nev. — Ayoka Lee delivered an impressive performance with 23 points and 10 rebounds, leading the No. 9 Kansas State Wildcats to a dominant 92-66 victory over DePaul during a consolation match at the Ball Dawgs Classic.

In addition to Lee’s standout game, teammate Serena Sundell also achieved a double-double, contributing 15 points alongside 11 assists. Zyanna Walker scored 13 points, while Taryn Sides and Temira Poindexter each added 11 points, proving Kansas State’s depth in offense.

The Wildcats excelled in the paint, outscoring DePaul 56-26. This season, they are averaging 48.2 points per game in the paint, having scored 40 or more points in the paint across all seven of their games, including three matches where they netted over 50.

For the Blue Demons, Taylor Johnson-Matthews and Jorie Allen each put up 17 points, striving to keep the team competitive.

Noteworthy observations include the tough competition faced by DePaul, as they confronted three top-10 teams within a four-game stretch, including a matchup with then-No. 4 Texas and No. 8 Oklahoma in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Kansas State’s Ayoka Lee, recognized as the preseason Big 12 Player of the Year, is just 25 points shy of breaking Kendra Wecker’s all-time scoring record at the school, which stands at 2,333 points.

A pivotal moment in the game came midway through the first quarter when the score was tied at 11. Kansas State quickly surged ahead with an 11-0 run, establishing a commanding 22-11 advantage going into the second quarter and maintaining control throughout the game.

A crucial statistic from the game was Kansas State’s shooting performance in the second quarter, where they made 12 field goals, with six of those being 3-pointers. The Wildcats excelled from beyond the arc, sinking 6 of 9 attempts, which significantly contributed to establishing a 21-point lead at halftime.

Looking ahead, DePaul will host SIU Edwardsville on Sunday, while Kansas State prepares to take on Central Arkansas at home on the same day.
