EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Running back J.K. Dobbins of the Los Angeles Chargers is not expected to participate in the upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons due to a knee issue.
Dobbins sustained the injury in the first half of the Chargers’ recent 30-23 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. During that game, he managed to record six carries for 40 yards, along with three receptions totaling 19 yards, before exiting.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh of the Chargers refrained from providing detailed information about the nature of Dobbins’ injury on Wednesday, noting only that Dobbins is “working through something with his knee.”
This season had initially been a promising one for Dobbins as he attempted to rebound from a series of injuries that plagued his prior three years in Baltimore. In just 11 games with Los Angeles, he has amassed 766 rushing yards and scored eight touchdowns, placing him in contention for the AP Comeback Player of the Year award.
Dobbins experienced a significant setback when he tore his Achilles tendon at the beginning of the 2023 season while still with the Ravens. Additionally, he had previously torn his ACL in 2021, which resulted in lingering effects that carried into the following year. Over his career in Baltimore, Dobbins participated in only 24 out of 67 possible regular-season games after being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
