Manchester City’s recent decline in performance has left Pep Guardiola in a state of bewilderment.
After the dramatic 3-3 draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League, where City allowed three goals after the 75th minute, Guardiola addressed the press with visible injuries — a cut on his nose and scratches on the top of his head.
When queried about his injuries, Guardiola explained, “Yeah, my finger. Here,” while gesturing along his nose. He humorously added, “My nail,” before smiling and quipping, “I want to harm myself.”
This current situation seems to reflect a tough spell for Guardiola, marking the poorest streak in his managerial tenure. City, who have dominated the Premier League, winning the title for the past four seasons, has now suffered five consecutive losses across all competitions, a disheartening first for the team.
According to data from Opta, no team in Champions League history has ever wasted a three-goal lead so late in a match and failed to secure a win.
To make matters worse, City previously faced a crushing 4-0 defeat at home against Tottenham.
Now the team looks ahead to an upcoming challenge against Liverpool, who currently sit at the top of the Premier League standings, set for this Sunday.
