WASHINGTON — Malik Mack played a key role in Georgetown’s victory over Wagner with an impressive contribution of 16 points in a game that ended 66-41 on Tuesday night.
Mack’s shooting performance included four successful field goals out of ten attempts, with two of those from beyond the arc, and an admirable 6 of 8 from the free-throw line. Alongside him, Micah Peavy also had a noteworthy game, scoring 15 points and achieving four successful shots out of nine, including three 3-pointers. Peavy showcased his defensive skills with five steals during the game. Jordan Burks added to the scoring with 10 points, shooting an efficient 4 of 5.
On the other side, Javier Esquerra Trelles was the top scorer for the Seahawks, accumulating eight points, along with four assists and two steals. Keyontae Lewis contributed seven points and gathered eight rebounds, while R.J. Greene also chipped in with seven points for Wagner.
Georgetown asserted its dominance in the first half, taking the lead with 7:23 remaining, and held a 28-20 advantage at the break, thanks in part to Mack’s ten points in the first half. A significant moment in the game came when Georgetown surged ahead in the second half with an 18-0 scoring run, escalating their lead from eight to as much as 26 points. In the second half alone, they outperformed Wagner by 17 points, with Peavy leading the way with a total of eight points.
