DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — In a dominant performance on Tuesday, Ndewedo Newbury netted 21 points to help San Francisco secure an 85-64 victory over Fordham.
Newbury demonstrated his scoring ability by hitting 7 of his 12 shots from the field, which included an impressive 3 for 4 from beyond the arc, along with 4 of 5 from the free-throw line. The Dons improved their record to 5-2 with this win.
Joining Newbury in the scoring effort, Marcus Williams contributed 19 points by shooting 8 of 12 from the floor, including 3 for 6 from long distance, while also dishing out five assists. Additionally, Junjie Wang added 11 points, making 3 of 4 shots with 2 of 3 from three-point territory and converting 3 of 4 at the free-throw line.
For Fordham, Jackie Johnson III led the team with 17 points, while Jahmere Tripp provided valuable support with 11 points and two steals. Josh Rivera also chipped in with 10 points for the Rams, who fell to 3-5 on the season.
San Francisco established a solid lead, heading into halftime at 45-29, with Newbury making a notable contribution of 12 points. The Dons continued to assert their dominance in the second half, stretching their advantage to 60-36, aided by a 12-1 run. In this period, Williams led the charge with 12 points.
