BARCELONA, Spain — Robert Lewandowski made history by scoring from the penalty spot in the first half, marking him as the third player ever to surpass 100 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
With a composed finish, the striker netted a low shot in the 10th minute, putting Barcelona ahead 1-0 against Brest.
Now, Lewandowski finds himself in an exclusive club, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in all-time Champions League goals. He has achieved this remarkable feat with a total of 100 goals, requiring 125 appearances to do so—just two more matches than Messi and 12 fewer than Ronaldo.
This season has seen Lewandowski shine in the Champions League, tallying six goals so far. Notably, this is the ninth consecutive season where he has scored six or more goals in the tournament.
At 36 years old, the Polish forward is enjoying an exceptional season with Barcelona, having scored 21 goals across 19 matches. He currently leads the Spanish league in scoring, with 15 goals from just 14 games. His remarkable consistency is evident as he netted 14 goals in the last 10 matches across all competitions.
