SEATTLE — On Tuesday, Manny Acta made his comeback as the Seattle Mariners’ bench coach, working alongside manager Dan Wilson. Acta previously held this position from 2018 to 2019 under manager Scott Servais. His versatile experience with the Mariners also includes serving as the third base coach from 2016 to 2017, as well as from 2020 up until this current season. Additionally, he has managed the Cleveland Indians from 2010 to 2012 and the Washington Nationals from 2007 to 2009.

Wilson took on the managerial role on August 23, stepping in for Servais, and he has assembled a new coaching staff for the 2025 season. Notably, Edgar Martinez has been appointed as the senior director of hitting strategy after assuming the hitting coach position, which was previously held by Jarret DeHart following the dismissal of Servais.

Kevin Seitzer has been brought on board as the new hitting coach, having previously held a similar role with the Atlanta Braves from 2015 to 2024. Bobby Magallanes also joins the staff as the assistant hitting coach, a position he enjoyed alongside Seitzer for the last four years with the Braves.

In further changes, Kristopher Negrón has been promoted to third base coach after spending three seasons as the first base coach. Meanwhile, Eric Young Jr. has been elevated from his role as baserunning coordinator to first base coach, a position he previously occupied with the Washington Nationals from 2022 to 2023.

Additionally, Louis Boyd has advanced to the role of major league field coordinator after two successful seasons as the minor league field coordinator. Certain coaches from the past staff will continue, including Pete Woodworth (pitching coach), Tony Arnerich (bullpen coach and catching instructor), Trent Blank (major league coach and director of pitching strategy), Danny Farquhar (assistant pitching coach and pitching strategist), and Perry Hill (infield coach). This restructuring aims to enhance the team’s performance for the upcoming season.
