CHARLOTTE AMALIE, Virgin Islands — Colin Porter was instrumental in Liberty’s narrow 62-58 triumph over McNeese on Monday evening, contributing significantly with 16 points.
In addition to his scoring, Porter also accumulated five rebounds and dished out five assists for the Flames, who improved their record to 7-1.
Jay Maughmer supported the team’s effort by scoring 12 points, shooting 4 of 11 from the field, including 2 of 8 from beyond the arc.
Isaiah Ihnen added nine points, hitting 3 of 5 shots with 2 of those being three-pointers.
On the opposing side, the Cowboys, now sitting at 4-3, were led in scoring by Christian Shumate, who tallied 13 points.
Sincere Parker contributed with 12 points, while Quadir Copeland rounded out the scoring with 11 points and snagged seven rebounds.
During the first half, Zach Cleveland emerged with a strong performance, scoring eight points as the game went into halftime knotted at 29-29.
Following the break, Liberty fired back with a decisive 9-0 run, overcoming a two-point disadvantage to grab a 40-33 lead with 14:42 left in the match.
