A significant traffic accident occurred last week during a NATO training exercise in Estonia, resulting in injuries to multiple soldiers. Reports indicate that twelve individuals, of which eight are British service members, sustained injuries in the incident that has drawn attention from officials.
As the soldiers were making their way back to their base located in Tapa under adverse conditions due to a snowfall, their minivans became part of a series of collisions set off by an initial crash involving two other vehicles on the Tallinn-Narva highway. The Police and Border Guard Board provided updates indicating that in total, seventeen individuals were injured, and several required hospitalization.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that eight of the injured British soldiers were airlifted back to the United Kingdom for additional medical care. Of the eight soldiers, five have been successfully discharged, while three continue to receive treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital situated in Birmingham.
The British troops involved are part of Operation Cabrit, a NATO mission aimed at countering potential Russian threats in the Baltic region. These soldiers are collaborating with other NATO forces from countries including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland as part of a multinational battle group designed to bolster regional defense.
