BALTIMORE — In a thrilling contest, UMBC triumphed over Howard with a score of 95-77 on Monday, thanks in large part to Bryce Johnson’s impressive performance.
Johnson was exceptional, scoring 28 points while shooting 10 for 15 from the field, including 4 for 7 from beyond the arc. He also made 4 of his 6 attempts from the free-throw line, contributing significantly to the Retrievers’ (4-4) victory.
Marcus Banks also made an impact with 17 points, hitting 5 of 13 from the field, along with 3 of 7 from three-point range, while also achieving a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe. Additionally, he grabbed six rebounds and made three steals. Anthony Valentine was another key player for UMBC, scoring 16 points with a stellar shooting performance, making 6 out of 7 shots and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line.
On the other side, Blake Harper led the Bison (3-4) with a solid performance, putting up 20 points and recording two steals. He was supported by Marcus Dockery, who contributed 14 points, while Ose Okokie finished the game with 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.
