CLEVELAND — A former dealer at an Ohio casino has been charged with theft after reportedly skimming chips during poker games multiple times over the summer.
The details regarding the total amount of money allegedly taken by the former poker room dealer at the JACK Cleveland Casino remain unclear, as court documents do not specify a figure.
The 51-year-old resident of North Olmsted entered a not guilty plea on November 15, facing charges related to violations of casino gaming regulations and misdemeanor theft.
He is scheduled to appear in court again for further proceedings in early December.
Attempts to reach his attorney for comments went unanswered on Monday.
The investigation started after a complaint from a poker player who accused the dealer of taking chips from the betting pile during a game in September.
According to the Ohio Casino Control Commission, which oversees gambling operations and enforces laws related to gambling offenses, a review of surveillance footage revealed additional incidents of theft attributed to the dealer.
Following the casino’s findings, the dealer was terminated from his position the next day.
Court records indicate that he is alleged to have stolen chips 14 times since the beginning of August.
