Mohamed Salah has cast doubt on his future with Liverpool, revealing that he has not been presented with a contract extension despite his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
Following his impressive performance, which included two goals in Liverpool’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Southampton, Salah hinted that the chances of him leaving the club are increasing. “We are almost in December, and there haven’t been any offers for me to stay,” he expressed during a post-match press conference. “I feel I’m probably more likely to depart than to remain. I’ve been with this club for many years; there’s truly no other place like this. But ultimately, it’s not solely up to me.”
Salah’s contribution helped Liverpool maintain an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League standings. The 32-year-old has been with the team since 2017 and has netted 12 goals in 18 matches throughout the current season.
Speaking to the media shortly before boarding the team bus, Salah shared his frustration about the lack of advancements regarding his contract situation. “I’m not retiring anytime soon; I’m committed to playing, focusing on this current season, and striving to win both the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League. It’s disappointing, but we shall see what unfolds,” he stated.
“I pride myself on professionalism. My work ethic is evident to anyone watching. I strive to enjoy my game and aim to perform at a high level for as long as possible. I give my all for both myself and the club. Time will tell what comes next.”
Since the Saudi Arabian football league’s push to sign international stars, Salah has been frequently linked with a potential move to the nation. As Liverpool’s record Premier League scorer with 167 goals to his name, he has amassed a total of 223 goals across 367 appearances in all competitions for the club. Salah has also secured an array of silverware with Liverpool, including a league title and a Champions League trophy.
