GEORGE TOWN, George Town — In an exciting matchup during the Cayman Islands Classic on Sunday, Kalen Garry was instrumental in leading South Dakota State to a 71-60 victory over Duquesne, contributing a notable 20 points to the team’s effort.

Garry also secured five rebounds for the Jackrabbits, who improved their record to 5-1. Oscar Cluff provided significant support with his 17 points, efficiently shooting six of ten from the field and five of six from the free-throw line, while also grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists. Additionally, Matthew Mors added 15 points to the scoreboard, making four of seven field goal attempts, including one out of three from beyond the arc, and finished strong at the charity stripe with six successful attempts out of eight.

For Duquesne, struggling to find their footing this season, Tre Dinkins emerged as the standout, tallying 19 points alongside two steals. Maximus Edwards contributed with 11 points, while Jake DiMichele chipped in with 10 points, but it wasn’t enough to sway the game’s outcome.

The match was tied 33-33 at halftime, with Garry leading South Dakota State in scoring during the first half with 12 points. The pivotal moment came when Joe Sayler sank a critical three-pointer with 8:54 left in the second half, allowing South Dakota State to take the lead permanently at 52-51.
