EASTON, Pa. — In a dominant display, Alex Chaikin played a pivotal role for Lafayette in their matchup against NCAA Division III team Rosemont on Sunday, scoring 21 points off the bench and leading the team to a commanding 91-45 win.
Chaikin’s performance was impressive, as he made 7 of 11 field goal attempts and was particularly effective from beyond the arc, hitting 5 of 9 three-pointers. Teammate T.J. Berger also contributed significantly to the win, adding 10 points with a shooting line of 4 for 10, including 2 from 3-point range. Andrew Phillips matched that score with 10 points as well, finishing efficiently at 4 of 6 from the field.
On the Rosemont side, Bruce Black was the top scorer with 11 points, while Denelle Holly and Kelton Warren added eight and seven points respectively. Despite their efforts, the Ravens struggled to keep pace with the Leopards throughout the game.
Lafayette established a strong lead early on, taking charge 20 seconds into the first half and maintaining that advantage. Mike Bednostin was key in the opening period, leading the Leopards with eight points, which propelled Lafayette to a 38-22 lead by halftime. The second half saw an even more dominant performance from Lafayette, as they outscored Rosemont by 30 points. Chaikin was instrumental with a remarkable 15-point second-half effort, further solidifying the victory for his team.
Looking ahead, Lafayette’s next game will be at home against LIU this coming Friday.
