Muasau and Collins lead Morgan State to a 35-21 win against Howard

BALTIMORE — In an exciting matchup, Morgan State triumphed over Howard with a score of 35-21 this past Saturday, thanks to standout performances from Kobe Muasau and Jason Collins Jr.

Howard initially seized the advantage with a quick touchdown, putting themselves up 7-0. However, Morgan State responded impressively, scoring five straight touchdowns to establish a commanding lead of 35-7 by the end of the third quarter.

Muasa’s first significant play for the Bears came in the first quarter when he connected with Myles Miree on a 33-yard touchdown pass, leveling the score at 7-7.

The second quarter was a high-scoring affair, as Collins showcased his speed with a remarkable 59-yard touchdown run, followed by Muasau’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Marque Phillip, giving Morgan State a 21-7 advantage. Shortly after, Muasau added to the score with a 1-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 28-7, before Collins contributed a short touchdown run to conclude the quarter at 35-7.

In the fourth quarter, Howard’s Jaylon Tolbert connected with Isiah Williams for two touchdown passes, attempting to close the gap. However, it wasn’t enough to turn the tide in their favor.

Collins finished the day with a noteworthy 114 yards rushing, while Muasau accumulated 202 passing yards for Morgan State, which improved their record to 6-6 overall and 3-2 within the MEAC. On the other hand, Tolbert threw for 187 yards for the Bison, whose season record now stands at 4-8 and 1-4 in conference play.
