CEDAR CITY, Utah — In an exciting game on Saturday, Targhee Lambson and Jackson Berry played pivotal roles for Southern Utah, combining for four touchdowns, while Jayden Rogers secured the win with a 36-yard field goal in the second overtime, leading the Thunderbirds to a 37-34 victory over Utah Tech.

In a dramatic finish, Southern Utah’s George Ramirez helped seal the win by breaking up a crucial fourth-and-2 pass attempt from Reggie Graff at the 2-yard line, effectively ending the contest.

The first overtime began with Rogers successfully kicking a 37-yard field goal for the Thunderbirds, only to see Utah Tech respond through Ilya Uvaydov, who kicked a 40-yard field goal to keep the game alive.

Earlier in the game, Uvaydov had also nailed a 53-yard field goal with just over a minute left in regulation, displaying his impressive kicking skills. On the ground, Lambson stood out, rushing for 164 yards on 32 carries, including two touchdowns from short distances. Quarterback Berry completed 14 of 23 passes for 194 yards, contributing two touchdown throws. Southern Utah’s Shane Carr added to the offense with a touchdown reception, finishing the game with 80 receiving yards.

On the opposing side, Utah Tech’s quarterback, Graff, completed 31 of 57 attempts for a total of 386 yards, throwing three touchdown passes during the game. Notably, he connected with Eni Falayi for a duo of touchdown receptions in the opening quarter, one of which was a stunning 80-yard play that showcased their explosive offense.

Southern Utah improved their season record to 7-6 and 6-2 in the United Athletic Conference following the hard-fought win, while Utah Tech concluded their season with a disappointing 1-11 overall record, and 1-7 in conference play.
