LEWISBURG, Pa. — In a thrilling matchup, Ralph Rucker IV delivered a standout performance, amassing 437 passing yards and five touchdowns as Bucknell triumphed over Colgate with a score of 48-34 in their final game of the season on Saturday.
Rucker’s remarkable achievement catapulted him into Bucknell’s record books as he became the all-time leader in passing touchdowns, marking the first time a quarterback from Bucknell has thrown for over 400 yards in a single game. This latest five-touchdown feat also marked his second consecutive outing with five touchdown passes, equaling the school record.
In addition to his stellar performance, Rucker surpassed Scott Auchenbach’s previous mark of 42 career touchdown passes, concluding the game with a total of 46. He also shattered his own single-game yardage record, previously held at 387 yards from last season’s encounter with Colgate. Moreover, he set new school records for both single-season passing touchdowns at 25 and passing yards with 2,826, exceeding his achievements from the previous year. Rucker currently stands second on Bucknell’s all-time passing yards leaderboard with 5,363 career passing yards.
The victory gave Bucknell a finishing record of 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the Patriot League. This season marks their highest standing in the league and the most overall victories since 2014, when the team ended the season with an 8-3 record.
For Colgate, quarterback Jake Staerney threw for 248 yards, contributing two touchdowns but also accounting for three interceptions, concluding their season with a record of 2-10 and 1-5 in the league.
