MOREHEAD, Ky. — In a decisive conclusion to their season, San Diego triumphed over Morehead State with a score of 37-14, thanks in large part to a remarkable performance by Isaiah Smith, who achieved a personal best of 205 rushing yards on 31 attempts and found the end zone once.
Quarterback Grant Sergent also contributed significantly, passing for 184 yards and securing two touchdowns, helping San Diego finish their season with an impressive record of 8-3, and 6-2 in the Pioneer Football League. This victory marked their fourth consecutive win and their sixth in the last seven games.
In the Pioneer Football League standings, San Diego concluded the season in second place, trailing only Drake, which solidified its championship status with a commanding 49-10 win over Stetson on the same day. Earlier in their season, San Diego faced a narrow defeat against Drake, losing 30-28 on a last-minute field goal in Des Moines, Iowa, on September 28.
For Morehead State, quarterback Bryce Patterson managed to throw for 133 yards and connected for one touchdown, while teammate James Louis contributed with a rushing touchdown, concluding their season with a record of 7-5, and 5-3 in the league.
