In an exciting matchup, Cornelious Brown IV delivered an impressive performance, tossing five touchdown passes as Alabama A&M triumphed over Mississippi Valley State with a final score of 49-35 on Saturday.
The Bulldogs significantly shifted the momentum in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns and amassing 21 points, which allowed them to pull away from a close 28-28 halftime tie. Brown connected on all three touchdown passes during this crucial stretch, finding DJ Nelson for a 35-yard completion, Donovan Payne for 9 yards, and Keenan Hambrick for 13 yards. Heading into the final quarter, Alabama A&M held a 49-28 lead.
Donivan Wright was another standout for the Bulldogs, securing two of Brown’s touchdown passes and leading the receiving corps with 79 yards from a total of 296 yards for the team. Overall, Brown had an effective game, completing 19 out of 28 attempts for 252 yards. The Bulldogs now boast a record of 6-5, including 4-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
On the opposing side, Ty’Jarian Williams attempted to rally Mississippi Valley State, completing 12 of 28 passes for 275 yards. He managed to throw two touchdowns but was also intercepted twice during the contest. Nathan Rembert was a key figure for the Delta Devils, recording 107 yards receiving and securing a touchdown with five catches. The Delta Devils’ season record now stands at 1-11 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
The second quarter was filled with scoring excitement, featuring five touchdowns and multiple ties before the Bulldogs took control in the third, securing their victory.
