NEW YORK — In an impressive season finale, Ayden Pereira showcased his skills, rushing for 136 yards on 17 attempts and throwing for one touchdown, leading Merrimack to a decisive 19-3 victory over Fordham.

Merrimack’s defense was in top form, with Jay Thompson leading the way by recording three solo sacks and contributing to four of the Warriors’ total of 11 sacks. In stark contrast, Fordham struggled mightily, finishing with only four first downs and an astonishing minus-29 yards on the ground, accumulating just 31 yards in total offense throughout the game. The Warriors’ defense also made a significant impact by intercepting Fordham twice.

Pereira demonstrated accuracy in his passing, completing 12 of 15 attempts for 131 yards. He connected with Jalen McDonald for a pivotal 12-yard touchdown pass, extending Merrimack’s lead to 16-3 later in the third quarter. A field goal from Lliam Davis in the fourth quarter increased the lead to 19-3.

The scoring started in the first quarter when Kendal Sims blocked a Fordham punt, resulting in a safety. Jermaine Corbett then rushed for a touchdown from one yard out, putting Merrimack ahead 9-0 early in the game. Fordham’s only points came from a 43-yard field goal by Bennett Henderson.

The victory wraps up the season with the Warriors finishing at 5-6, while the Rams ended with a disappointing 2-10 record.
