DOVER, Del. — In a decisive display of athletic prowess, Joshua Jones led North Carolina Central to a commanding 52-10 victory against Delaware State, closing out their regular season in emphatic fashion on Saturday.

Jones showcased his skills with one touchdown pass and three rushing touchdowns, while the team’s defense made significant contributions by returning two interceptions for touchdowns. Eric Adams opened the scoring surge with a 37-yard return in the first quarter, followed by C.J. Henry, who extended the lead with a 63-yard interception return in the second quarter. Overall, the Eagles (8-3, 4-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) managed to secure five turnovers throughout the game.

Jones’ productive performance included two short touchdown runs, helping the Eagles establish an early lead of 21-0 by the end of the first quarter with the support of their staunch defense.

The quarterback completed 11 of his 15 passes for a total of 199 yards and added 57 rushing yards to his impressive tally. His teammate, J’Mari Taylor, also made an impact with a rushing performance of 78 yards, contributing one touchdown to the team’s overall success.

On the other side, Delaware State struggled to maintain momentum despite Jaden Sutton’s notable effort, as he rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown. However, the Hornets (1-11, 0-5) continued to face challenges, marking their 10th consecutive loss this season.
